Although there is much to be gained from reading The Pumpkin Plan, I wish Mike Michalowicz hadn’t dedicated such a significant portion of the book to his unnecessary side comments. While I did not love his writing style, Michalowicz does present valuable business strategies in a simple format that any entrepreneur can understand. He does so with many real-world scenarios to help keep the reader engaged and better understand how his methodology can be applied to various industries. Unfortunately, he drags out the book with too many unrelated comments and jokes. While I do appreciate a writer with a sense of humor, Michawolicz overdoes it to the point that his endless remarks start to become a distraction. Having said that, I still think The Pumpkin Plan is worth reading if you’re looking to grow a business or simply need some guidance and inspiration to get you started. I rarely read nonfiction. I never read books that are not in my field (psychology, social work, psychotherapy). I only give five stars for reads that move me significantly.So, now I'm blown away, moved to action because of a fascinating, sensible, approach to growing a business (or anything worth having--a child, a garden, your dog's good behavior, a marriage, etc). Michael makes one of the driest subjects personal, fun, poignant and juicy. I felt like I had a personal and professional coach encouraging me to take the risks necessary to be successful in any field. I will buy any book he writes. Enjoy the read and the very exciting, sensible advice on your way to financial independence.
